The Marina Operators Of The Bahamas Builds On Success, Charts Future
The Marina Operators of the Bahamas (MOB) will hold its 3rd Annual General Meeting and Workshop under the theme “Charting A Steady Course Through Strengthened Partnerships” this coming Thursday June 28, 2012 at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel, Nassau Bahamas.
As stated by Immediate Past President Steve Kappeler “Our theme this year is a testament to our ongoing success; it is only through the continued collaboration of effort, and ongoing partnerships with both private sector stakeholders and our government, we are able to accomplish goals that are beneficial to our sustained growth.”

BHA Calls For Elimination Of Market Value Investment
The Bahamas Hotel Association (BHA) is calling for the elimination of the 25 per cent market value investment required under the Hotels Encouragement Act for the renewal of investment incentives.
Its President Stuart Bowe told Tribune Business many small hotels were unable to come up with that much capital to invest in tough economic times.

Room Occupancies Continue To Increase But Rates Remain Suppressed
According to preliminary statistics released by the Bahamas Hotel Association and The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, the 14-major New Providence hotels recorded an 81.9% occupancy rate for April 2012 compared to 74.1% in April 2011. Room revenue increased by 3.5% despite a 10.8% increase in room nights sold. A higher revenue figure increase was thwarted by the April 2012 average daily room rate (ADR) of $272.93 that was $17.51 lower than in April 2011.

Grand Isle Resort & Spa Finalizes Its Transition To 100% Home-Ownership
Great Exuma, The Bahamas – Grand Isle Resort & Spa has finalized its transition to 100% home-ownership with the sale of 31 remaining villas to Peter Nicholson of Ottawa, Canada.
Nicholson purchased the units from Textron, Inc, the financier who owned the units following default on the part of the original developer. Over time, Nicholson intends to sell most of the units he has purchased, and has already experienced several sales.
