CHTA Elects New Officers For 2016-2018 Biennium

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) elected a new slate of officers at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Hyatt Regency Miami on June 9, 2016. The officers will serve with CHTA President Karolin Troubetzkoy, owner and executive director of St. Lucia’s Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain Resort, who started her term in January.

CBOB: Economy ‘Subdued’, Jobs Tied To Growth

In its first report since the Department of Statistics (DOS) released gross domestic product (GDP) figures showing three consecutive years of contraction in the economy, The Central Bank of The Bahamas (CBOB) has struck a somber tone, forecasting “only marginal gains” and “subdued domestic economic activity”, even with robust tax collection efforts led by the over-performing value-added tax (VAT).

Caribbean Travel Marketplace returns to Bahamas

The region’s largest and most significant marketing forum, Caribbean Travel Marketplace, will return to The Bahamas for the second consecutive year when the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) will be staging the event from January 31 to February 2, 2017 at Atlantis, Paradise Island.

In addition to CHTA, Caribbean Travel Marketplace 2017 will be organized with the support of The Bahamas’ Ministry of Tourism, the Nassau/Paradise Island Promotion Board (NPIPB), the Paradise Island Tourism Development Association (PITDA) and the Bahamas Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA).
