Tourism Growth Continues
Strong economies in the United States and Canada, loss of rooms in the Caribbean due to storm damage from the last hurricane season and the opening of Baha Mar all contribute to the growth. There has been a 29.6 percent increase in arrivals from Canada through July.

Minister: Plans For Large Projects Progressing
The Ministry of Public Works is pushing forward with approvals for several large-scale infrastructure projects slated to begin soon, Minister of Public Works Desmond Bannister said Friday.
Bannister, who was speaking at the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association’s (BHTA) annual general meeting, said those plans are progressing well and include projects that have been in the pipeline since the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) was in office. Other projects have been long anticipated, but government and private entities have remained mum on those deals.

2018 National Culinary Team Wins Gold
The 2018 National Culinary Team will come home donning a slew of medals including: TEAM GOLD for The Caribbean National Team of the Year Competition; Chef Jamal Small won Gold AND was inducted into the coveted “Hall of Fame” for winning overall “Caribbean Chef of The Year”; Junior Chef Hazen Rolle blazed a trail winning Gold for “Junior Chef of The Year”, he too won overall Junior Chef of the Year and Hall of Fame acclaim, a feat achieved by The Bahamas for the 2nd year in a row!
