Pledge Conference to Mobilize Recovery Financing After Hurricane Dorian
The Government of The Bahamas and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with support from the Governments of the United States and the United Kingdom will stage a pledge conference on 13 January 2020 in Nassau to mobilize financial and technical support for recovery efforts in The Bahamas, following the passage of Hurricane Dorian.
The $300m water park expansion will increase the Baha Mar resort’s workforce by ten percent, and has been welcomed by both the government and trade bodies.
The Bahamas government has approved a $300m expansion to Baha Mar, which will see the addition of a new water park to the property, bringing the resort’s total investment up to $4.8bn.

The Bahamas needs a livable wage study in order to determine what the minimum wage in the country should be, said Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Leader Philip Davis yesterday.
“I think the time has come for us to do a complete and comprehensive study of what is a livable wage in this country,” said Davis, during a press conference at the PLP headquarters.

The Bahamas Hotel Tourism Association (BHTA) held its 67th Annual General Meeting on December 6th 2019, at Atlantis, Paradise Island. The Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Alexander Minnis, Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas addressed over 100 tourism industry stakeholders, as the Keynote Speaker of the event.
The Ministry of Tourism has partnered with the Caribbean Journal publication to launch The Bahamas Travel Awards.
The initiative aims to celebrate the persons, places, hotels and experiences that are vital to The Bahamas’ visitor experience, with award categories ranging from destinations and hotels to restaurants, people-to-people programmes and the best bartenders and chefs. more  |
