LPIA New US Terminal Opens March 16

LPIA US terminalThe new US arrivals and departures terminal is scheduled to ‘go live’ on Wednesday, March 16th.  The following day construction begins on Stage 2 of the International terminal which is slated for completion in 18 months.  Immediately after that, construction is scheduled to begin on Stage 3, new domestic facilities.
 
New parking arrangements for US travel have been in place for nearly a month.  Signage is in place to direct on new traffic patterns. 
 
Kudos to the Government and the NAD team for creating new facilities which we can all be proud of and should serve us well as our industry becomes better positioned for anticipated growth.

BHA Preparing For Latin American Market

The Ministry of Tourism and the Bahamas Hotel Association (BHA) are taking an active approach in preparing for the Latin American business coming into the country, offering a workshop geared towards fully tapping into that market.

It’s potentially the first of many seminars given the diverse markets that flock the country.

Executive Vice President of the BHA Frank Comito told Guardian Business last week that the workshop is designed to ensure that Bahamians in the sector are able to fully capitalize on the Latin American market, thus making raising awareness a priority.

Our Lucaya Makes Labour ‘Adjustments’

Both the Minister for Labour and the head of the Bahamas Hotel Managerial Association confirmed yesterday that they met with executives from the Our Lucaya Golf and Beach Resort in separate meetings on Tuesday, ahead of today’s anticipated announcement that around 200 workers will be terminated from the hotel property.
