US Pre-Clearance Declaration Requirement

U.S. Currency and Monetary Instruments Reporting Requirements
 
The U.S. Embassy would like to remind travelers that, while it is legal to transport any amount of currency and/or other monetary instruments into or out of the United States, a traveler who is departing on a pre-cleared flight to the United States from Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau or Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport, and who is transporting, attempts to transport, or causes to be transported, currency and/or other monetary instruments in an aggregate amount exceeding U.S. $10,000 (or an equivalent amount in foreign currency) at one time, must report such amounts to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and file a Report of International Transportation of Currency or Monetary Instruments (FinCEN 105) with CBP prior to departure.

Hotels Target ‘Modest Increase’ For 2012 Q1

The Nassau/Paradise Island hotel industry is hoping to enjoy “a modest increase in all key metrics” for January and the 2012 first quarter, the Bahamas Hotel Association’s (BHA) president last night pointing out that this nation’s average daily room rate (ADR) climb back was “not as challenging” compared to rival destinations.

Major Hotels Report Marginal Improvement

According to preliminary statistics released by the Bahamas Hotel Association and The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation, the 14-major New Providence hotels showed continued improvement in December, with increases in several key metrics.  These improvements helped to counter weather-related impacts last January and in August, September and October, resulting in marginal increases in occupancies, room revenue, average daily room rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR) in 2011.…Continue readingMajor Hotels Report Marginal Improvement
