Education Minister Lloyd Addresses Educators at BHTA’s 16th Annual Educators’ Industry Internship Programme

Jeffrey Lloyd, Member of Parliament for South Beach and Minister of Education gave an impassioned, wholly riveting speech to attendees of The Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association’s 16th Annual Educators’ Industry Internship Programme.

The opening ceremony was held at the befittingly “Tru Tru Bahamian” venue, fondly known as “Nettie’s Place”, a hotel and restaurant, cultural, artistic and historical center, located on West Bay Street.

D’Aguilar Lists ‘Myriad’ of Opportunities For Self-Employment inTourism/Hospitality

The tourism and hospitality industry has the potential to create self-employment opportunities for those Bahamians with an entrepreneurial mindset, Minister of Tourism and Aviation Dionisio D’Aguilar said.

“Beach and sea are our destination’s strongest selling points, so any business that is beach or sea-based is guaranteed to be successful, with good management, of course,” Minister D’Aguilar said.

Addressing educators attending the 16th Education Industry Internship Programme, hosted by the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) at Choices Restaurant, University of The Bahamas on Monday, Mr. D’Aguilar outlined a myriad of business/economic/entrepreneurial opportunities open to Bahamians in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Entrepreneurs Needed To ‘Ace’ Tourism Competition

The Bahamas must continue to “ace” its tourism competition through superior customer service and identifying new entrepreneurial activities that appeal to visitors, a Cabinet minister is urging.

Dionisio D’Aguilar, minister of tourism and aviation, told teachers attending the 16th Education Industry Internship Programme hosted by the Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) that The Bahamas needed to both maintain its current growth momentum and find new ways to exploit tourism so that more Bahamians benefited from an improved quality of life.
