Baha Mar Development Company President Resigns

Pagano was installed as president of the subsidiary of Baha Mar Resorts back in 2006 after spending 18 years developing the huge Canary Wharf project in the UK.

Throughout the ups and down of the Baha Mar project Pagano has stayed with the company but now, with the recent agreement signing in Miami with Chinese investors, he is set to return to the UK.

In a memo to staff, Sarkis Izmirlian, chairman and CEO of Baha Mar Resorts, said: “John Pagano has decided to resign his position as President of Baha Mar Development Company and return to the UK to be with his family.

“The delays we have experienced with the start of the project, and the necessary commitment over the next five years have affected his schooling plans for his children.

“John has been with Baha Mar for over four years and has worked tirelessly to bring the project to where it is today, and to bring the Exim financing deal to the project allowing us to carry on with our development plans despite the downturn in the global credit market.

“I want to thank his personally for his dedication and commitment.”

As one top man leave another is appointment with Izmirlian announces the appointment of Tom Dunlap as the EVP of Development and Construction reporting to Don Robinson, President of Baha Mar Ltd.

Dunlap has more than 30 years of development and construction experience in the resort and hospitality industry.

Most recently he was president of Revolution Places Development responsible for Cacique, Costa Rica, the proposed $1 billion luxury development, as well as the development and expansion for the Miraval wellness resort brand.

Prior to that he was partner with East West Partners and was the sinor project development executive for The Highlands at Northstar, a ski destination resort anchored by the recently opened $300 million Ritz Carlton Hotel and Residences.

He also worked for 15 years with the Walt Disney Company as senior vice president for Walt Disney Imagineering responsible for the development and construction of Disney’s Vacation Club Resorts, Disney’s Cruise ships, terminals, and the Castaway Cay private island located in The Bahamas.

He also oversaw the development of a portfolio of hotel projects in Paris, Florida, and Hong Kong.
