Tourism Executives Meet Police On Security Issues

Representatives from the two organisations met with Superintendent Anthony Rolle and his officers to discuss further collaboration.

“The Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association considers safety and security a key focus of our organisation” said Suzanne Pattusch, the executive vice-president of the BHTA.

“Our collective ability to deliver an environment that is safe and secure is integral to the sustained success of the destination; to our own quality of life”.

The Tourism Police initiative is a private-public partnership (PPP) whose mandate is to mitigate and address any safety and security issues that would detract from a positive downtown Nassau experience.

Ed Fields, the DNP’s managing director, gave an insight into various projects scheduled to begin in the short and mid-term as part of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.

Mr Fields acknowledged the importance of the tourism police and their efforts to enforce the law in dealing with issues such as vagrancy; illegal peddling; and parking and petty crimes.
