BHTA and DNP Meet to Collaborate with Tourism Police

The Tourism industry aligned organizations met with Superintendent Anthony Rolle, and his cadre of Tourism Police officers to discuss collaborative efforts to achieve common goals.

“The Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association considers Safety and Security a key focus of our organization” stated Suzanne Pattusch, Executive Vice President of the BHTA “Our collective ability to deliver an environment that is safe and secure is integral to the sustained success of the destination; to our own quality of life”.

The Tourism Police Initiative is a private public sector collaborative effort whose mandate is to mitigate and address any safety and security issues which would detract from a positive downtown experience; and to assist in the provision of a welcoming, secure environment for tourists and locals traversing Historic Nassau and surrounding areas of interest.

At the meeting, Ed Fields, Managing Director of the DNP provided insight into a number of projects which were slated to commence in the short and mid-term as part of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative. Fields acknowledged the importance of the Tourism Police and their efforts to enforce the law as it pertains to all aspects of safety and security downtown, from vagrancy; illegal peddling to parking and petty crimes.
