Baha Mar Management Agreements Signed

Baha Mar’s Vice President of Administration and External Affairs Robert Sands told The Nassau Guardian yesterday that an operator for what will be the largest casino in the Caribbean, according to Baha Mar’s principals, is still being sourced.

“The timing for us to make an announcement [about the casino operator] is another milestone that we will work toward,” Sands said.

He said Baha Mar has six months before the resort campus officially opens to make the announcement.

“We are continuing to work and do our due diligence on a number of casino brands,” he said.

“Our priority has been to finalize management agreements with hotel brands.

“Having this [resort management agreements] in place just adds additional leverage and support in finding a casino brand going forward.”

Baha Mar, in a press release, revealed yesterday that Hyatt Hotels Corporation will operate and manage the development’s 700-room Grand Hyatt convention hotel, while Morgans Hotel Group will operate and manage the development’s 300-room luxury lifestyle hotel under its Mondrian brand, and Rosewood Hotels and Resorts will operate and manage the development’s 200-room luxury hotel.

“Our hotel partners have embraced the vision of Baha Mar, which is to capture the true spirit of the region’s rich heritage of African, European and Caribbean influences while delivering the very highest levels of quality and service,” Baha Mar’s Chairman and CEO Sarkis Izmirlian said in the press release.

“Shifting the sands of global tourism Baha Mar represents a bold vision, the largest in the history of the Caribbean, and marks the resurgence of an area known as the Bahamian Riviera.

“The successful completion of our management agreements with Hyatt, Morgans and Rosewood is a significant milestone for Baha Mar as we continue to turn this vision into a reality.”

The Baha Mar resort campus is expected to hold almost 3,500 rooms and residences, a Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, three spas, a 20-acre eco-water park, multiple restaurants, high-end retail and entertainment venues, and is the largest single-phase resort ever developed in the Caribbean, and is currently the largest project under development in North America, according to Baha Mar’s press release.
