No Surcharge For Bahamian Airlines

Bahamasair and SkyBahamas will not charge an extra fee for its services and will continue to operate without including the additional costs during the summer. Managing Director of Bahamasair Henry Woods and President and CEO of SkyBahamas Randy Butler both confirmed with Guardian Business that the trend in U.S. airlines will not land in The Bahamas.

The five airlines that are adding surcharges to its fares are American, Continental, Delta, United and US Airways. The period in which the extra fees will apply begins on June 10 and ends August 22, where passengers will be charged anywhere from $10 to $30.

More interesting is the maximum $30 fee that passengers will absorb is for one-way tickets, where the charges will double for round trips. The price a customer will pay all depends on which day they decide to travel — $10 on Tuesday and Wednesday; $20 on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays; and $30 on Sundays.

With most of the U.S. carriers offering flight services in the country, passengers will now have to consider the extra cost added to their ticket rates. Both Woods and Butler said their airlines are trying to avoid those fees at all costs and will try to operate without creating extra expenses for the customer.
