Marina Operators of the Bahamas Annual Meeting and Workshops
With the Ministry of Tourism’s recognition of the growing importance and immense potential of the marina sector, the group will hear from Minister Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, Minister of Tourism and Aviation, who will offer a luncheon keynote. He will be joined by Assistant Commissioner of Police Hulan Hanna who will speak on matters related to marina and boat security.
“Thanks to the support of the Bahamas Hotel Association and the Inter-American Development Bank we were able to form the Marina Operators of The Bahamas last year. While we are still in our infancy, we have made good strides during our first year, working on several key initiatives and building an organization which increasingly in the future will play a pivotal role in furthering the development of the marina industry in The Bahamas” states MOB President John Bethell.
“We’ve added a workshop component to the day specifically to share solutions, recognize opportunities, and identify and address challenges we face as an industry. The contributions made by the marina and boating community to the overall tourism sector is significant. We realize that there is great potential to build on this, but we all must work in collaboration as an industry and with Government to be successful” he adds.
The MOB was formed in June, 2009 under the direction of The Bahamas Hotel Association and the Inter-American Development Bank with funding support through its Sustainable Tourism Entrepreneurial Marketing Management Project. The goal of the MOB is to represent the needs and interests of marina’s and marina related business by facilitating and promoting profitability through competitive and sustainable growth.
