Abaco To Benefit From New Flight Service

Danny Krachun has opened Treasure Coast Airlines Inc which will provide scheduled and on-demand air service to the two Abaco resorts from Stuart’s Witham Field and St. Lucie County International Airport north of Fort Pierce.

Treasure Coast Airlines operates a fleet of three Piper Navajo Chieftains. The air service schedule will begin Dec. 15.

Krachun, director of operations, said: “There was no real services from this area to Abaco and we were getting a lot of calls so we figured there was a market.

“Many people were calling but couldn’t afford to charter a flight themselves so we decided to launch the scheduled service.

“Within two to three days we have already had 20 to 30 calls which is encouraging. If the service takes off we could expand it to a turboprop service with either a Metroliner or a Beach 1900 Airliner.”
