Small Hotel’s Conference

The following day the association will hold its annual general meeting.

Nina Maynard, Chairperson, BHA/STEMM National Small Hotels Task Force & Owner/Operator of The Corner Hotel, in Nassau, said:

“We as owners & operators of small properties are faced with difficult challenges at the best of times and now during the global recessionary conditions challenges are even greater.

“For the past year, however, working together as network members of BHA/STEMM we have had significant accomplishments as well as confirmed that as small operators we have to stay focus and not allow ourselves to become disillusioned.

“We do recognize that in order for us to effectively compete and participate in our country’s tourism economy we have to look at all aspects of our business operations to see how we can continually lower our operating costs and improve our business operations, customer service and product standards.

“We also recognize that in today’s competitive marketplace it has become increasingly important for us as small hoteliers to be market savvy and be in a position to participate in specialized promotional activities that are geared to the market that we can attract.”
